Bring Him Back (Jan 6, 2009 at 1:00 AM) - Please allow some self-indulgence. I don’t say this to brag, but to make a few points. Last night (Monday) I was speaking in Lubbock, TX. Everything seemed to go well, but you never really know.
Speaking Fear Links (Jan 6, 2009 at 1:00 AM) - Some links to help you with your fear of public speaking...
1. The Instant Speaking Success Home Study Course. Okay, a shameless plug, but there is no better fear fighter than creating a valuable speech, filled with valuable content, and delivered in a valuable way.

Myth 1: You'll Always Be Nervous (Jan 6, 2009 at 1:00 AM) - You may feel that way, but it’s not true unless you have a disorder. I know some speakers who brag about still being nervous even after doing the same speech for ten years.
Myth 2: I Can Speak on Anything (Jan 6, 2009 at 1:00 AM) - Nobody can speak on anything. And it's not just a
matter of intelligence. Sure, you could be given
a subject which you could study and present in a
broad way. But if you really want to be of value,
you need to share a subject with depth.
Myth 3: I Was Awful...I Was Awesome (Jan 6, 2009 at 1:00 AM) - We're never as bad or as wonderful as we think. Plus,
we're not as poor or as brilliant as the audience
thinks.
Every engagement provides the opportunity for review.
Regardless of how well the message came across there
is something that could be improved.
Build Your Confidence (Jan 6, 2009 at 1:00 AM) - *Never forget that the audience WANTS you to succeed.
*Create great material in a great format.
*Getting paid (in any amount) means someone believes your words are worth money!
*Getting invited (anywhere) means someone thinks you have something to share that others need to hear.
*Real people in the seats says they were willing to trade their time for your knowledge.
*Cherish all positive comments and replay them again and again.
*Getting invited back should give you a major boost of confidence and erase insecurity.
*Once a month reread your testimonial letters and thank you notes.

Myth 5: I've Got to be Professional (Jan 6, 2009 at 1:00 AM) - Not even close. You’ve got to be YOU. We always excel when being ourselves rather than being fake.
People are so worried about what other people think that it paralyzes. Being “professional” sends most speakers into fit worthy of a straight jacket.
